Pathfinder - Low Magic Hombrew Setting

Greetings All; I'm looking for people interested in a Homebrew setting using the Pathfinder System that I may run on Mondays. However, there are a few Restrictions on Characters for the Game, due to the fact that it is a Low Magic Fantasy Setting. - - - Premise :: Upon the world of Etredarr, magic was unheard of, everyone bore sword and shield, bow and axe. A world where might was not always right, but the age where steel broke against steel always existed. Now comes the Age of Magic, a cursed wave upon the world of Etredarr. Soldiers wielding burning swords and robed figures wielding staffs that can bring forth lightning from the very heavens, not all of it was bad as Priests with symbols of light began to heal the sick. But that was never enough to sway the masses, the mobs that have been created through strife. How Magic was unfair on the field of battle. Now, the Glorious nation of Everblud, whose Knights are known throughout the civilized world as near unstoppable. Have been stopped dead in their tracks, by a newly formed Organization, called the Union of Aether. They wish to take over the world, or so it seems. Though, how did this even begin, for Magic couldn't have spawned from nothing at all. Those in the know, those who travel far and wide, will have seen the fonts in which spewed forth such evils. Greater Temples of unknown origin have been distorting reality itself, appearing in the oddest places in the world. Stories told by Jorgunson, a Master Bard, speaks of bargains with beings of untold power, be it Angel, Demon or Devil. They also say that within these Temples lie creatures of uniqueness that are strange to behold. - - - Actual Premise :: It is a World without Magic, where the only Magic seen so far are Magic Items - The Origins for these Items are great Temples, that once you enter, you can never return. However, once you get to the End - You will meet either an Angel, Demon, Devil or something far worse. You will "Bargain" for power, the Token of this Bargain, the Contract will be in the Form of a Magic Item. Lose the Magic Item, Lose your Magic. P.s. - Bargains / Pacts / Promises are taken very seriously in this world. There are only Humans on the world, however - Inside the Temples there are Societies of different species. Once a Temple is Completed, it is known to Vanish entirely. Game Information :: Times to start game will likely be around 21:00 - 24:00 GMT / Lasting for around Four or Five Hours. (( The Timeframe is Negotiable and Dependant on the Players )) Day will definitely be Mondays, as that is my only Free day. Unless people want to play around 17:00 GMT any other weekday. Players - Looking for 5 Players, no more. I will run with 4 Players. - However I will be looking out for around 2 Alternate Players. Characters will start at 1st level. No Monster Races - Only Humans - Until later on in the game. No Templates This is the 12th - 16th century, no Firearms. Just Dark Ages type tech. Starting Stats will be : 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 The Players Characters shall either be in the Know or find out in the first session. A Player Character cannot start out as a Magic user of any kind. Magic classes are NOT advised, as you will be a slower progression than anyone else. Magic Users Must bargain with their "Benefactor" every time they level. Bargains in game, are to be done via Roleplay, where Diplomacy/Bluff/Intimidate, etc will only change their starting demeanor. I.e. Dice rolls won't save you, you have to think of Bargains and explanations by yourself. Pact breakers are marked by society, you can lie, cheat and do whatever you want. But going against a confirmed deal is frowned upon. The Game will Start out as a Dungeon Crawl, but will change depending on what the Players do. Style of DMing : As a writer, I use Characters to Progress the Plot. So if my Players stall, I cannot advance the plot. It is perhaps a flaw, but I find it refreshing to work off what my players give me and amplify that. I'm also used to running Sandbox games that allow my players to do anything they wish to the world, but I keep the plot and metaplot continuously moving depending on the actions of my players. - - - I don't believe I need to add anything else to the list ^^ If you have any questions or if I left anything out, just comment here or PM me ! I.e. " I can play, I'm in USA, GMT:-5" etc - So that I can customize what times I can start with the players available. |

This is certainly a interesting concept, but I'm a little concerned. Are you homebrewing some other means to heal, or are clerics and druids still allowed, but altered? I'm in either way, but I want to have a better idea of what I'm getting into before I make my character. |

There are no ways to heal normally, only things like Poultices, etc - As for Clerics, Druids and any class with Magical abilities are basically stunted. Until you meet a Demon / Angel / etc - Power is gained retroactively, but until then. You have no abilities related to magic. Think 14th Century medical knowledge, that is what the world is around. |
