  • It was a bloody affair, but in the end, the godless commies overcame the yankee swine. Chris Hamawi, aka Agent Pariah, took 1st place, winning 40 Naomi Bucks to spend at the NeonCon schwag store. Fear him:   Thanks to everybody who played, it was a nail biter! USA Ace...

    About this game

The Cold War rages, and the battle lines are drawn – on one side, the Americans, on the other, the Russians – attending a convention undercover. Each team will be trying to eliminate the other over the course of NeonCon, running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (until 2 pm).

     How to Play

A player comes to register at the Infrno booth, at NeonCon, and is randomly assigned to a side. This means that he may or may not be assigned to the same side as his friends who have come to sign up with him. It is in a player's best interest to be cagey about which side he is on. The only way a player knows someone else is playing is by the Infrno badge each player is given. Each player is also given a codename, by which he will be recorded in the rankings, and the codename of one other player on his side, who is his “contact.”

It is then the job of the player to find a target, determine whether or not that player is on his side, purchase weapons, and assassinate him.

    Style of play

    How to Score a Kill

Players purchase weapons using the money they generate. The weapons suggests how the kill must occur. Once the kill has occurred, the killer takes the victim and the victim's dog tags back to Control. The kill is scored.

    Kills & Cooldowns

When a player is killed, they are only temporarily removed from the game. They must spend one hour out of the game before they can participate again.

    Boundaries of Play

There are many areas that are out of bounds for play. These include, the casino, places

where regular patrons might be disturbed like restaurants, bathrooms of the opposite sex, and the like. Use good judgment.

Also, you may not assassinate a target while that target is in a game. Under no circumstances may you disrupt a player's game while it is going.

    How to Win

At the end of the convention, at 2 pm on Sunday, the winner will be the person with the most points and the team with the most points.

Players are awarded points for their actions. However, players can also lose points for not participating in the spirit of the game.

    Money

Each day, players can come to control to receive $50 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). They may also gain more money through bribes or the like. Players may pool their money together to purchase larger ticket items.

    Weapons

Weapons are either acquired from Control, or they can be scrounged from a player's hotel room. However, in order for them to be used, money must be given to Control for the right to use it. Following is a list of approved weapons and their costs.

    Blackjack ($10)

This weapon is represented by a rolled-up sock that can be swung at another player's shoulders. A blackjack must strike a victim on the shoulders and from the back in order to score a kill, but the weapon is re-usable.

    Blowgun ($50)

This weapon is represented by a drinking straw and wadded up pieces of paper. The user exhales to blow the paper out of the straw. Since the darts are considered poisoned, any hit to the body counts as a kill. Blowguns come with 15 shots before they must be purchased again.

    Club ($40)

This weapon is represented by a rolled up towel and must strike a victim's torso in order to score a kill.

    Dropped Weight (Free)

This weapon is represented by a pillow and must be dropped successfully from above a victim and strike.

    Garrotte ($5)

This weapon is represented by a length of toilet or crepe paper. It must be looped over a victim's head as if to strangle from surprise in order to score a kill.

    Grenade ($50)

This weapon is represented by a ping pong ball, and must be thrown within 5 feet of a victim. The user then must count to three before yelling “boom!” At that point, anyone within 5 feet of the blast is killed, which can include bystanders.

    Guns ($100)

This weapon is represented by a banana that has been labeled “.45 Chicita” in permanent marker on the side. In order to score a kill, a user must have a clear line of sight and be within 10 feet of the victim. The user draws the gun, clearly aims at the victim and yells “bang!” Guns come with 15 shots before they must be purchased again.

    Poison ($20)

This weapon is represented by a note that is taped to the bottom of a glass, plate, or other similar consumable item. Once the victim has eaten said poisoned item, the user approaches him, shows him the note, and informs him that he is dead.

    Poisonous Creature ($20)

This weapon is represented by a rubber or plastic spider or snake. The user places the creature somewhere where the victim will touch it. Once he touches it, he is dead.

    Rope ($5)

This isn't so much a weapon as a way to restrain a captive who has been held at weapon-point. It is represented by toilet paper, which is looped around the victim in order to tie him up. Such victims cannot move, except to go to the bathroom or games.

    Time-Bomb ($100)

This weapon is represented by any alarm or timers, such as those found on cell phones, tablets, or laptops (or the alarm clocks in hotel rooms). A user must set the alarm to go off, place it within 5 feet of the victim and wait for it to go off. It kills anyone within 5 feet, including bystanders. Once the alarm goes off, the user must approach the victim and inform him he has died (if successful).
