This will be a chargen session for an upcoming Mass Effect game. We'll be using the Diaspora hack available on RPGNet. I can send it to you via skype if you don't want to look for it there. The actual game may not be for a couple weeks, as I'll need to finish the planning stages -- this will be at least somewhat more referee directed than most Diaspora games.

Although the Necromancer Loathing Everborn and his army of undead marched once more on the walls of New Elaria. He always came back, always amassing an army of undead. But this time the Necromancer had been gone a long time, and during his sleep, the world had changed much. Cannons were the first, destroying his vanguard with ease, and his horrors encountered rifles, pistols, clockwork golems, steam-driven battle-wagons, aerial bombardments from dirigibles, and other attacks from modern Arcanotech. Many of the evil mage's more powerful minions escaped destruction, skittering over Elaria's walls and hiding in the shadows. For weeks, they...

The Athenaeum is an ancient organization that safeguards humanity through the control and flow of information. It has stood, along with the White Council, as a bastion against the supernatural forces of terror and destruction for centuries. Recent events have depleted their members dramatically, forcing an active recruitment of those far too young and inexperienced for a job much too important to be handled by the naive and uninitiated. Due to the increasing appearances of bibliomantic aberrations and encroaching apocalyptic prophecies, however, there is little choice. Welcome to the Athenaeum...

When his wife died, Tawfiq left his comfortable retirement to seek out his prodigal son, Nadr. Nadr ran away some years ago to become an adventurer, which Tawfiq had forbidden because he considers it a stupid, barbaric profession. Tawfiq was prompted by loneliness to set aside his anger and try to make peace with Nadr, if he can find him....

Stripped Down Strands FeedbackPlayers liked using scopes, they felt it simplified aspect use for players. They also seemed to like the fact that Defining and Motivating aspects were there “go to” aspects in a lot of instances. They did not like the limited Fate use in conjunction with no compels -...

Fairly experienced player and GM but by no means an expert. I play games for the role play, not the roll play but I see no reason both can't be enjoyed. I'm a firm believer that the game is less important than who you're playing it with. I'll play just about anything with a good group =D Player experience:...

I've been gaming for entirely too long and still love it. I like Burning Wheel, Fate, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader and other stuff. I don't dislike evlves. And the donkey asked for it.

My favorite aspect of roleplaying games is the story and the characters. I like RPGs towards the rules-light end of the spectrum because they don't bog down the story but still provide structure to the game. I was interested in RPGs a long time before I ever had the chance to play any, contenting myself with reading a lot of...

I'm a long-time Savage Worlds GM who is currently exploring "indie" rules systems like FATE, Microscope, Apocalypse World, Fiasco, and Sword's Edge. I'm also keen to try Cortex+, but haven't had a chance yet.
Hello! I've always been interested in RPGs, but don't have much experience. I've played the Dresden Files RPG a couple of times, and FATE rpgs are absolutely amazing to play.

I am a long time RPG enthusiast, started with Red Box, was hooked from there. I moved into AD&D 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Editions, World of Darkness 1st and 2nd Editions (Huge Mage the Ascension fan). Attended GenCon in the early 2000's and last 2 years. I would describe myself as a narrativist-driven GM and player. I enjoy combat...
I'm looking for PbP, skype/chat based or Portland OR based games, generally in the more indy-range of games. My preferences are mostly of abstract combats, and generally unifying rules.

I love adventure. The only thing I love more than adventuring is doing it with people who enjoy it just as much as I do. I like playing Pathfinder Society (PFS), DnD 3.5 and 4E, and I'm currently studying to become a GM. Current games I am learning are Little Fears, Vampire: The Masquerade. I dislike elves because they're...
