Session 2 : Rapture

I'm... pretty sure that I'm not dead.

I can't confirm that belief, because I'm unconscious again, but I'm going to tentatively believe that I am probably alive this time as well.

Probably.

Can't be sure.

I need to stop dictating journals while unconscious.

Anyways.

Post-last update, I awoke in a large pile of rock, composed of what I believe may have been the large blue and grey structure across the street, though I can't swear to that, as it was mixed with rubble from most of the other buildings in the area.

Whatever it is that the Corps tried before the Oan metier hit the city, didn't work. The city is in ruins, and on fire.

I found the one called Emerald also buried in rubble. We tried to find the others, but they weren't there. In fact, nobody was there. I could raise none of my fellow lanterns in local space. I determined that they were still alive. I determined this by the fact that I would have probably started screaming if I assumed otherwise.

Under that assumption, Emerald and I decided to try to find the Lord Mayor of the city. We headed off into the burning city toward the government buildings, when we came upon one of the very high buildings full of people. We retrieved the people, and met another indigenous creature, this one very different from the others. It looked like a golem of some kind, but perhaps it was simply another one of the humans in a different life-stage. I haven't seen any of their breeding caste.... hmmm.

The creature called itself Jamie. Which is a nice name.

And it could speak!

Real language, not the weird flutey buzzing that the natives seem speak.

I thought he was a police officer, but it turns out that he was only a concerned civilian. It also turns out that Emerald is not a police officer either. It appears as though none of the people I was working with were police officers or official guards of any kind. I hope Kilowog does not find out about any of this or he will be very cross with me.

There was a small group of natives that we had saved, and the others seemed very interested in getting them somewhere safe. Had I been alone, I would have gone off and looked for Kilowog or the Lord Mayor, but I thought that there would be safety in numbers, and I am supposed to protect the innocent, so we gathered more civilians and hid them in a school.

We encountered some real guards and they took refuge in the school as well. They called themselves 'Marines', which is, I think, a mistranslation, as they did not appear to be any more aquatic then anyone else on this planet. They mentioned that there are strange creatures near the Town Hall. I thought they were Municipal Guards, but they weren't. It took a while for them to explain, but apparently the people of this planet have League Armies of some kind. The apparently swear allegiance to the league and not the city.

We found some food, a crate of what Jamie said was military rations, and tasted sort of like pudding. Not bad exactly, but a bit weird.

That night Emerald woke me up to tell me that a strange human was watching us from a near by building. We watched her for a few minutes while Jamie tried to get close to her, but we lost track of her in the darkness.

She left a body. A body of a green lantern. I didn't know her, but she was a fellow. I... don't know what to thing about that. Why did they leave a body? To scare us?

I don't know. We buried her, in the way of her people, with fire.

I put the symbol in the sky, the one of the corps. I'm not sure why. It felt correct.

She was from Sector 2452, that is almost thirty billion light-years from here. I wonder what it would be like, to die so far from home.

I am going to make it my goal to avoid finding out.

The next morning we went to find the Lord Mayor and to see what has been happening around the Town Hall. We found him being assassinated by an angry mob. We stopped them, and met a strange man. He seemed to treat the whole situation as some kind of game, and called his lieutenants. They were armed with strange weapons, but we defeated them handily enough. The Emerald is a mighty fighter, and Jamie is a strange creature, slipping through matter as though it were not even there.

Having defeated them, more of the League Guards appeared in a very unsafe looking flying craft. They told us that they were here to evacuate us. I mentioned that we didn't need evacuation, being quite capable of flight myself, but they were unconvinced. Jamie and Emerald decided to stay behind, but I was anxious to find someone in authority. The Mayor it seemed had been detained for several days, and had little information on the wider situation.

The flying device was very loud. They took me to what looked like a medical facility where they were checking evacuee's, I guessed for wounds, which seemed thorough, but inefficient. There were still clearly many many people in the city, and checking them before allowing them to leave must require huge amounts of resources.

A medic briefly checked me out and passed me. That was good, though I wonder that they would really recognize a wound on my species. The medic then checked out the lieutenants that we fought earlier. It seemed very agitated about something and tried to kill them, yelling about infection. I stopped him and then...

Well then I ended up unconscious again.

I really hope I'm not dead.
