As my prequel-era Senator character once remarked to Palpatine, blithely, "Ah, the Sith, the eternal optimists of the galaxy. Every thousand years or so they poke their head out of their hole and we bash it in with a hammer, but every single time they are JUST SURE that this superweapon, this insidious plan, this unholy alliance will be the one, despite all the failure that led up to it. What can you expect from a philosophy that is based entirely on cowardice and petulance? Oh, sorry, 'fear and anger'. Welp, I have a budget plan to rewrite, see you around."
